Ron and Hermione A-Z

Get ready to say your ABCs and learn more about Romione as you go! Each letter has something to do with Ron and Hermione's relationship. Have fun!

A is for

Amortenia is the most powerful love potion in the world according to Professor Slughorn in HBP. This potion smells different to each person based on what they are attracted to. Hermione smells freshly mown grass, new parchment and Ron's hair!

B is for

Bicker. Ron and Hermione bicker constantly through the whole series. The subject of some of their most memorable bickerfests have been: Vicktor Krum, Scabbers, Crookshanks, Hermione being a girl, Harry's Firebolt, and the rights of house elves.

C is for

Cavetroll. Ron. Hermione, and Harry became friends officially in first year after they saved Hermione from a cavetroll on Halloween. This is also when Ron learned the spell that Hermione was trying to teach him in charms. Wingardium Leviosa.

D is for

Deluminator. This is the object left to Ron in Dumbledore's will. The deluminator helped Ron find his way back to Hermione and Harry. He opened the Deluminator on Christmas morning just as he'd done a thousand times since leaving his friends, but this time instead of removing the light from the room he heard Hermione's name coming from it. A blue light appeared outside his window and floated into him and it guided him to Hermione and Harry several times, but it was not until Ron saw the silver doe that he finally found Harry and then Hermione since their tent had so many concealing charms on it. Christmas morning incidentally was the first time Hermione or Harry said Ron's name since the his departure. Ron saw this as Dumbeldore'a assurance that he would abandon his friends and regret it later, but Harry assured him that it was because Dumbeldore always knew he would always want to return to his friends.

E is for

Er-my-nee, which was the first word/name Ron uttered after being poisoned in his 6th year. This was amusing since he had been snogging his girlfriend Lavender Brown through most of the book and had not been talking to Hermione for quite awhile. We can see which witch was on his mind!

F is for

Funeral. Dumbeldore's funeral to be exact which is a key moment for all Romione shipper's. This is the moment Ron finally grew up and didn't completely shy away from his feeling for Hermione. He held her while they both cried for their beloved headmaster and he didn't flinch even once.

G is for

Girl, which Ron may or may not have noticed Hermione was in their fourth year. He sure knew it by the end of the Yule Ball.

H is for

Hugo. Hugo is the name of Ron and Hermione's son. He is their youngest child and seems to have a good friendship going with Lily Potter (Harry and Ginny's daughter).

I is for

"I love you, Hermione," said Ron, sinking back in his chair, rubbing his eyes wearily.
Hermione turned faintly pink, but merely said, "Don't let Lavender hear you say that." (HBP Chapter 21 The Unknowable Room, Page 449 )

J is for

Jealousy, which plays a very big role in the lives of both Ron and Hermione. Ron was first jealous of Viktor Krum and his affection for Hermione which he explained as "Fraternizing with the enemy." He was also jealous of Cormac McLaggen in sixth year when Hermione took Cormac instead of himself to the Christmas party the Professor Slughorn was having. Hermione went to this party with McLaggen just to make Ron jealous for she too was jealous of all the snogging he had been doing with Lavender Brown.

K is for

Kiss. This was probably the most important moment of Deathly Hallows for Romione shippers because this was when they finally (finally after 7 books of waiting) got together officially. Read the moment below.

“Hang on a moment!” said Ron sharply.

“We’ve forgotten someone!”

“Who?” asked Hermione.

“The house-elves, they’ll all be down in the kitchen, won’t they?”

“You mean we ought to get them fighting?” asked Harry.

“No,” said Ron seriously, “I mean we should tell them to get out. We don’t want anymore Dobbies, do we? We can’t order them to die for us.”

There was a clatter as the basilisk fangs cascaded out of Hermione’s arms. Running at Ron, she flung them around his neck and kissed him full on the mouth. Ron threw away the fangs and broomstick he was holding and responded with such enthusiasm that he lifted Hermione off her feet.

“Is this the moment?” Harry asked weakly, and when nothing happened except that Ron and Hermione gripped each other still more firmly and swayed on the spot, he raised his voice. “Oi! There’s a war going on here!”

Ron and Hermione broke apart, their arms still around each other.

“I know, mate,” said Ron, who looked as though he had recently been hit on the back of the head with a Bludger, “so it’s now or never, isn’t it?”

(HBP Chapter 31 The Battle of Hogwarts, Page 625 )

L is for

Lockhart, a teacher whom Hermione had a crush on in second year before everyone found out he was a fraud and his memory charm backfired and left him an even more clueless git than he was to begin with. Hermione outlined all Lockhart's lessons in hearts on her timetable, which Ron teased her about. She also knew all the answers to Lockhart's test all about himself. And finally, Ron discovered a get well card from Professor Lockhart under Hermione's pillow and teased her again.

M is for

Mudblood. If anyone(namely Draco Malfoy) said this to or about Hermione and Ron would be furious and either try or succeed in retaliation.

N is for

Nightmare. In SS/PP Ron called Hermione a nightmare and added that it wasn't a wonder why she didn't have any friends. This sent Hermione into the girl's bathroom to cry for hours until a cave troll attacked her. Ron and Harry later came to her rescue and with some encouragement from Hermione Ron managed to use Wingardium Leviosa to knock the troll out. This event was the start of the trio's friendship.

O is for

Oppungo. This spell was used by Hermione to summon canaries to peck at Ron. Hermione used this spell against him because she was upset by seeing him and Lavender Brown kissing or more accurately eating each other's faces.

P is for

Poison. Ron drank some poison mead in HBP and had it not been for Harry's quick thinking and the Half Blood Prince's potion book Ron probably would have died. At the time Hermione and Ron weren't on speaking terms because of Ron's relationship with Lavender Brown. This quickly ended when Hermione heard of Ron's poisoning. If this hadn't happened who knows when those two would have started being friends again!

Q is for

Quill. Ron had a Spell checking Quill in his 6th year that the charm was coming off of. This quill spelled his name Ronil Waslib, which Hermione pointed out as she helped him correct his essay.

R is for

Rose. This is the name of Ron and Hermione's daughter. She is the eldest child.

S is for

Slugs, are what Ron started belching up after his wand backfired when he was defending Hermione from Draco Malfoy in their second year.

T is for

Train. This is where Ron and Hermione first met! This is where Ron had dirt on his nose! This is where it all began! Aboard the Hogwart's Express in the Trio's first year.

U is for

Unforgivable curse. The Crutiotuis curse which is one of the three unforgivable curses was used on Hermione by Bellatrix Lestrange in Deathly Hallows. This delivered one of the most heartbreaking and unforgettable romione moments when Ron screamed bloody murder for Hermione trying with everything he had to break free and rescue her.

V is for

Vicky. Which is what Ron calls Vicktor Krum when he is jealous of the international quidditch star's affection for Hermione.

W is for

Won-Won. This pet name given to Ron by Lavender Brown infuriated Hermione and she used it sarcastically toward both Ron and Harry after Lavender started calling him by it.

X is for

Xenophilous Lovegood. After Ron comes back in Deathly Hallows he and Hermione are not on the best terms. Hermione decides that the trio should go talk to Xenophilous to learn more about Grindelwald's mark. Harry doesn't like this idea, but Ron thinks it's a brilliant idea and even initiates a vote raising his hand first and with a great amount of zeal. Of course Ron could care less about the mark, he just wants Hermione to like him again as Harry points out in the following quote:

"You only agreed to try and get back in her good books."

"All's fair in love and war," said Ron brightly, "and this is a bit of both."

(HBP Chapter 20 Xenophilous Lovegood, Page 396

Y is for

Yuleball. Is where Ron finally noticed that Hermione was a girl and that he didn't like her being with international quidditch players. This event took place in the trio's fourth year at Hogwarts during the christmas of the TriWizard Tournament. This event spawned such classic lines as "You're fratenizing with the enemy." and "Next time there's a ball, ask me before someone else does, and not as a last resort!"

AND Z is for

Zero. Which is the number of times Romione shipper's ever thought that Harry and Hermione would end up together instead of Ron and Hermione.
