Just a couple of things – and please bear in my that if my tone is not positive in this email it is because being called ‘rude’ is not something I appreciate. I spent around 4-5 hours reading and re-reading everything on your site. I am in my final year of Law School so every minute counts as far as I’m concerned. Yet, I give up time to voluntarily consider your site and offer helpful constructive advice. I do not ask for anything at all in return. But, apparently, I am rude?
You have said multiple times that you haven’t had any complaints about your loading time, yet I have said in my review on more than one occasion that it is a problem – so there’s at least one complaint for you. If my server has timed out for the loading of some things, that is also a problem with the loading time. Having excessively large images will increase this. Whilst you want to grab the viewer’s attention with things being big and flashy, there is a certain aesthetic that is also desirable when seeking to grab the attention of the viewer. Whilst you might believe that having a diced image will reduce loading time, this is actually a myth and it does not help loading time one iota. Honestly the accessibility of your site is intensely worrying. Requiring your viewers to have particular internet connections and screen sizes with java enabled is not particularly accessible. I have written an article about accessibility that I would recommend you have a read of.
For someone who is allegedly a stickler for plagiarism and you say yourself that “The only thing I ask for is credit if someone uses something I make, which seems fair to me” but then apparently its not fair to expect for you to the same for all the people whose resources you have up on your site? Interesting… and you think a disclaimer makes this okay? A disclaimer does mean that you are giving appropriate credit, now does it?! How would you feel if someone used your resources and just had a disclaimer like yours on their site? Would you consider that to be an acceptable recognition of your work?
I’m sorry you believe that I’m rude when really I am merely not telling you that your site is the best. This is because it is not perfect and there are plenty of things that I think you should work on. If you don’t want to hear such opinions I guess you shouldn’t have requested a review from me. Honestly, it is pretty lame to be calling me rude in my review, simply because I didn’t lather you with praise in every sentence of my review. I wrote what I thought was fair and that is my opinion. As you asked for my opinion, I don’t see what is so wrong with that. If you don’t think that I’m an appropriate person to consider a fan-site then why request a review from me?
My review of your site is already up and I’m not sure why you think I should change it? You have called me rude and alluded to an opinion that I am too inexperienced to review a fan-site so I’m not entirely sure why I should change the content of my site for you? I have added you on MSN so you might get a chance to give me a reason that is of real substance.
